The Role

Wager AI is hiring a Data Infrastructure Engineer to architect and scale the real-time data backbone that powers our AI-driven engagement engine. You’ll build systems that ingest, process, and serve billions of player events with low latency and high reliability — enabling personalized experiences and intelligent automation for global gaming operators.

This role demands a deep understanding of distributed systems, stream processing, and modern data pipelines. You’ll work directly with engineering, AI, and product teams to design infrastructure that supports both experimentation and production-scale intelligence.

We operate on a 996 schedule (9am–9pm, six days a week). The ideal candidate is self-directed, thrives under intensity, and is motivated by building systems that can’t fail.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of experience in backend or data infrastructure engineering.

• Expertise with streaming and batch data systems (Kafka, Flink, Spark, or similar).

• Deep understanding of data modeling, distributed systems, and large-scale ingestion pipelines.

• Experience managing cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Strong command of Python, Go, or Node.js for building data services and ETL workflows.

• Familiarity with modern data storage systems such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, or BigQuery.

• Proven ability to design systems for scalability, resilience, and low latency.

• Strong debugging, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Nice To Have

• Experience with real-time analytics, event processing, or AI model data pipelines.

• Background in gaming, adtech, or fintech where high-frequency data streams are common.

• Familiarity with feature stores, data versioning, and production ML workflows.

• Understanding of security, compliance, and data governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain the data infrastructure that drives Wager AI’s analytics and machine learning systems.

• Build and optimize real-time data pipelines for player events, campaign triggers, and segmentation logic.

• Design and maintain data warehouses, APIs, and internal data tools for analytics and model training.

• Collaborate with AI and product teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and observability.

• Automate ingestion, transformation, and validation workflows.

• Optimize performance across cloud resources to achieve maximum throughput and efficiency.

• Lead debugging, incident response, and scaling strategies for high-load production systems.
